 Brand Story

Long ago, our Chinese ancestors traveled across the seas to the shores of Malaya to earn a living. They weren't well-educated, but they valued fierce loyalty amongst each other. They were men of honour, wholly trusting their lives to comrades, sticking together to survive in a foreign land. During the 1950s, a man settled in Pangkor Island's fishing village. He was called the venerable brother Zhen, as he never failed to help his 'brothers' in need.

Once, Zhen promptly sacrificed his assets to help a brother sorely in need of money for his toppling business. In time, the business recovered and even enjoyed great success, but the ungrateful friend never repaid the money nor acknowledged Zhen's kindness. Instead, Zhen was avoided and ignored.

One day, Brother Zhen downed a few drinks, and found that he couldn't stand this betrayal any longer. Fuelled by the fire of anger and alcohol, he gatecrashed the friend's drinking party to collect his debts. Upon Brother Zhen's confrontation, the friend flatly denied that he owed money to Zhen while the partygoers were goading him to strike and teach Brother Zhen a lesson. The friend obliged, and hacked an unarmed Zhen to pieces!

After the death of Brother Zhen, his family changed the name of their roast meat shop from "Zhen Ji" to "Fake Brother" to commemorate the memory of him. Since then,

whenever customers see the words "Fake Bro" on the sign, it is as if they saw Brother Zhen loudly condemning the despicable behaviour of his backstabbing friend!

Brand Value

Today, the virtues of justice, integrity, and honour are lost in practice. Our world is flooded with the influence of warped media, exposing the ugly rise of betrayal amongst politicians and leaders, who are supposed to be the pillars of society.

Despite the stress we place on morals, men who prioritise personal gains over their humanity run rampant. The values of brotherhood, once sacred, can now be easily bought.

We often hear mothers scold: I'd rather give birth to char siu than give birth to you! Let us digest that food for thought. Since a piece of barbecued pork knows how to behave better, let's gather together, eat roast pork, revive the ethics of brotherhood, and learn to be human!

The Chinese value the importance of living by etiquette, justice, integrity, and honour. However, men of the present are valuing profit more. They shamelessly sell off their precious humanity, and the codes of brotherhood, once sacred, can now be easily bought!

While some politicians hide in their lies, this Siu Yuk is the real deal!

While some brother show us fake love, this Char Siu only gives a world of quality!

Don't waste your breath on loyalty to your friends but do the practical thing. Eat roast pork!

We often hear our parents say: I'd rather give birth to char siu than give birth to you!

Since a piece of barbecued pork knows how to behave better, let's gather together, eat roast pork and learn how to live!

East and West (religion seeking community and individuality)

The trend of religion in each state. religion is primed to feed the soul what it lacks.  East communal spirit, people are bonded through their societal role, erasing individuality in the sense where they are intrinsically empowered through 'free' thoughts of expressing whatever they like. Religion will be focusing on the fulfillment of  West is individualised, religion is primed to bring people back into communities and nurture that spirit of caring for each other and moving forward together to a collectively higher purpose. CHRISTIANITY: This is not a religion, this is a personal relationship with Jesus.  Hold out for a saviour who returns your texts, and not someone who has holy ghosted you. But he always answers prayers, it’s just that the answer is sometimes no. This seems more like a one-sided relationship that the imagined person, if he exists, doesn’t seem aware of? This is not so different from the phenomenon in modern celebrity culture— a parasocial relatio...

DOMINATION

"... when domination disguised its real self in euphemisms " Once you have seen through & smelled the deliberate lies and distortions - often via "education" & mass media- of White Western Colonialisms you can no longer un-see or un-smell the shit.  Then, you no longer give a fuck about the Colonizer's taste, judgement, prestige, affirmation, acceptance, validation, or relationship with your colonizer and his/her institutions.  That to me is the ultimate liberation of the Colonized. We must un-fuck our consciousness, if we wish to live with essential self-respect & dignity as equals in these global webs of group & individual relations. "... when domination disguised its real self in euphemisms " decolonize our imaginations with pedagogies and experiences,

Acceptance of LGBTQ identities in Malaysian and Singaporean Protestant Churches

Title Acceptance of LGBTQ identities in Malaysian and Singaporean Protestant Churches Introduction  While Christianity has traditionally been homomisic in the nature of its doctrine, churches have been utilising the discourse of ‘God-given unconditional love’ to be more welcoming towards LGBTQ identities. Regardless, even with this softened approach, the LGBTQ community still faces pervasive discrimination. Elements of discriminatory behaviour, bias, and stigmatisation can be systemic in nature, constituting of how people reinforce and propagate varying textual formats of power through language discourse (Potter 1996). In this case, the Christian perspective assumes power through the discourse of heteronormativity, which recognizes heterosexuality as the norm while refuting other forms other than heterosexuality by labelling them as deviant and pathological (Yep 2002). Nonetheless, despite ‘hate the sin and love the sinner’ being used as a statement of reconciliation against suppos...
