PIDGIN Arises rapidly to facilitate communication in trade, labor, usually using a grammatically simplified form of the dominant language, with some localised elements.
e.g.
English trader brings laborers that speak multiple different languages to a central plantation
English would be adopted as a neutral language, and laborers will adopt the basics of English, but with a relatively non-english grammar.
Comparison:
Americas: slaves seperated from same language speakers to prevent planning of riots, uprisings, which develops a need and an allowance for the quick expansion of pidgin, which can develop into a creole.
Malaysia: British forces prevent mixing of races, isolating Chinese, Indians, Malays and such to utilise racial tension. Speakers of their native language had no relative need to understand other languages, so pidgin didn’t arise during British rule.
