1. recap

so in 1st week weve covered the social distinctive; discussing why how and when leaders should give credit to their teams, last week equipping distinctive; where we zoomed in on the steps to train and equip leaders with the 5 Ms - modelling mentoring monitoring motivating multiplying

Today, we’re centering on the attitude.- The choice within you.

2. start: recreation activity

wlcom Game of choices. How this works is that we will answer these questions one by one tgt. reacts.

4.Debrief

based on game;: notice that would you be make different choices leading you down different scenarios, because we have our own priorities.  meaningful boring life> dangeros exciting; because, safe , value stability. so in other words, our priorities often dictate the choices we make.

so irl when we grow up and reach a certain level of maturity, we are expected to play a huge game of would you rather. job, raise, travel, family. and when we play this game, to be held accountable for our priorities and choices, because we’re utterly responsible for how we think.

usually no one points a gun to our heads and tells us what to think.

But In the end, as many will tell you, we as citizens of the earth have free will, the last say to shape our own thoughts and live as we like as long as we remember that each and everyone of our CHOICES MATTER, BCS it builds or breaks our integrity. choices MAKE US WHO WE ARE.

READ: excerpt; The Covenant Renewed at Shekem, God gives a choice

in summary of this chapter, Joshua, a leader of the tribes of Israel recounts all the workings of God (he educates the tribes by giving them knowledge of what God has done), and then gives the tribes 2 options. either serve god, or don’t. it’s the people's choice to decides if they want to be on God’s side or not. no one is there to make their choices . And every move they take, will ultimately make or break their future. now we know that choices are vv important. so let’s dive into a picture to explain how choices are made ya.

6.

lets say now, youre at home, listening very attentively even though there are many distractions around you: loose Thoughts drift --- im hungry, that game looks fun, or he's making some good pts (from here, a fixation of those thoughts will spawn)> (healthy or unhealthy) Desires food (magnify, systemised)> your desire may become your Priorities (whether intentionally or not; )> result in AKSHEN> leads to real world Consequences (turn off cam, eat, inattentive) that will set a background for your next line of thoughts> the cycle continues- like domino effect.

  1. Most turning points in life are centered around making a choice. And our attitude affects the way we make our choices.

  2. Negative attitudes lead to negative results, and vice versa. are u happy with what your attitude brings you? if your consequences are always bad, then there will prob b smtg wrong in choice cycle.

  3. Question: What kind of attitude will you choose and how do you accomplish a change in attitude?

  4. We all have something in our life and attitude that needs improvement. This requires an honest, fair, realistic and thorough self examination of our attitudes.

7.MINDSET RESET

what I've just described is today’s focal point---- 6 steps to evaluate and conquer attitudes. 1-4 (setup,     thinking, internal) 5&6 (musclework, action, making foundation)

8.

1. Identify problem feelings

are you okay with the feelings in your head? inside out feelings pilots,  joy, sadness, even disgust piloting

today, most ppl driven by fear, fear of not meeting expectations, socmed FOMO fear of missing out, fear of change, fear of what ifs. these fears blind us, sidetracks from embracing change. but look

9.
Acts 4:29–31 gives an example of how faith overcomes fear. If God stands for us, who can stand against us?  Although fear may hinder us, we must remember to have faith, so that we can propagate a system for good thoughts>desires>focues good priorities>lead to better and better choices each round.

10.
2. Identify problem Behaviour:WHAT is that silly thing I keep doing, and WHY do I keep doing it??

your lifestyle; choked with weeds, pests and hard soil. Nothing good can grow, problem behaviours are like pests that eat away at anything potentially good for harvest.

Weed out distractions,

figure out on what's hindering me from positive change eg finally admitting i'm lazy, procrastinating, clueless, unorganised, etc.

Ready the soil to plant Purpose

once we recognised our problems, we must desire to change, Even before you write your goals, you must have a desire to change these behaviours.

11.

3.Identify problem thinking

weve covered feelings n behaviour; more or less a mix thoughts and desires floating in our heads. in order to not wallow in self-pity, actually start moving with some sort of direction, thinking.

common flaw in thinking, where we think we can handle our problems/ usually overestimation. dont resist your temptations. flee! refocus them and replace: bcs whatever you focus on gets your attention. whtver gets your attention, gets you.  a simple illustration would be when ppl say dont think about the color blue.

this is why dont fixate on the past; depression. dont fixate on future; youll anxiety.  youre still safe and sound in the present. Choose to Live Each Day.

all these are all good. but all the basis must stem from biblical thinking

12-13

4.Clarify Biblical Thinking

2cor 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Renewing Your Mind with the holy spirit: there are strongholds in your mind--lies that we tell ourselves so often that they become our truth.. make sure first; it is holy spirit you want to follow; jesus, his path you want to follow.

Romans 8:5, NIV: "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace
Philippians 4:8 gives us a list of the types of things to think on.
Joshua 1:8 commands us to meditate on God’s Word day and night. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

God clearly teaches that people should think on certain things so that they will obey Him and be happy, because our thoughts control our feelings.

john 10: 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. write mission statement.

14.
5. Secure Commitment

none of the above will be of use if we don't persevere.
Secure commitment requires me to take ownership of my problem attitudes so that I can CHOOSE to work on positive change.
but It would also be helpful to work WITH a trusted friend who encourages me, listens to my problems, hold me accountable, to help me change. why? bcos change can be hard work and we won't easily give up or be complacent if we are committed with a friend!

15.

6. Plan. execute.

pint here: You can plan all you like, but to be successful, those plans must be executed. Decided does not mean success. The real work lies ahead. 8% new yr resolutions are pulled through

write mission statement..

i.e. Mission Statement.
Successful organizations have a clear statement of purpose,  Without a clear sense of purpose, organizations flounder and drift, and resources are wasted. The same is true for us. Identify your purpose, and the actions you plan to take (or stop taking) every day towards your goal. Be specific in your action plans.

Debriefing: deciding and building characters. each of the choices u made changed the outcome of the story. In the same way, the choices we make can change the outcome of our lives – or our story.

rmb debrief for would you rather; i said that as citizens of the world, we are ultimately free? But as christians, we go further than that. we recognize tht Free will is given to us, by God. That means that we, as Citizens of God’s kingdom, have a responsibility not to abuse divinely given free will by throwing it back in God’s face. examples would be the practice of blind faith/ bad faith, where ppl love 2 say ..ahwhatever lah and do whatever the majority does because (1) it feels safe (2) theres no need to waste energy to think things through. But that is not an option for us. especially not for leaders. we established that we are, in fact, chained to the responsibility of free will. someone is knocking at your door. dont look at anyone else. you are the primary host to your mind and body. no one comes through that door unless you allow them through. That is the terribly wonderful gift that God has given us. it is by our actions that we are destroyed or saved. The choice is ours.“

Galatians 5:16, NIV: "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
make the choice to keep aligned with attitude whenever we encounter. holy spirit give me the right thoughts. im feeling this anger. frustration. i want to encourage you to reach out to what God offers. connect with friends to keep you accountable. lord we dont want to be lost in the depression of the past, nor be trapped in the anxiety of the future.holy spirit, i invite you to give me thoughts, desires ideas. so that we can live the passion of the holy spirit.

Conflating the liberty of freedom and burden of choice, and finding the balance in between

"...the individual ceases to be himself; he adopts entirely the kind of personality offered to him by cultural patterns; and he therefore becomes exactly as all others are and as they expect him to be...The person who gives up his individual self and becomes an automaton, identical with millions of other automatons around him, need not feel alone and anxious any more. But the price he pays, however, is high; it is the loss of his self." -Escape From Freedom by Erich Fromm, first published by Holt, Rineheart and Winston, New York, 1941. http://www.alternativeinsight.com/Escape_from_freedom.html and then comes the question many strive to answer; what do we risk to lose when we are already in an individualised state of mind? Even more, i think. The attraction of the self makes it even harder to conform, whilst the pressure for conformity never ceases—in fact the pressure exponentially increases—staring you down through that bright screen all day and for most of the night. 7 WAYS for achieving your purpose

CHOOSE YOUR DIRECTION make use of free will.   Jesus and the blind man. Why does Jesus ask him what he wants when it is obvious he want to see? Choose area (learning, marriage, finance, friendships) of importance to you, and make 3-10 goals. What measurable  and compelling goal is possible? Set the goal, and then you have the direction. Reticular activating system: it helps you find whatever you are focusing on.  E.g. Search for blue items. Okay, how many purple items are there? you don't know. Because you only focus on what you look for. Your brain gets excited and get power the moment it knows what direction it is about to take. Decide  your exact deadline when you will achieve it. Also, ascertain what you want to sacrifice . (time/money/patience/difficult situations) The price will be  "Where there is no vision, people perish"-Solomon  CHOOSE YOUR REASONS Do you have insight to yourself? Be a person of deep water, look deeper. Introspect. What...
