KOOLHAUS Architecture

External big picture. Who constructed? Location?

‌The house constructed by DIA – Dittel Architekten blends into the context of a historical country estate dating from the Middle Ages. located in a rural setting in South Germany, which is characterized by natural areas and agricultural land

Position? Why so? How does it fit?

‌The new building is positioned orthogonally to the historical barn and to the road on the estate, so that it fits in with the alignment of the existing courtyard buildings. The architects also took into account the natural topography and the avenue driveway leading into the estate, which also stands within this geometric context

What does the structure represent? What elements are included to make the space?

‌Constructed as an independent modern building, the new structure also respects the traditional architectural language of the surrounding buildings. Consideration was explicitly given to the homogeneity between old and new. This dialogue manifests itself in the horizontal division of the building structure, which is emphasised both by a difference in materials and a shadow gap

‌Thanks to the seamless integration of the folding shutters into the wooden lagging and the gables roof structure without eaves, the building presents itself as a modern, peaceful and closed monolith.

Functions of the space, reactions to

‌In the twilight the semi-transparent lamellar structure of the shutters creates an atmospheric lighting mood and on hot days it supports the pleasant indoor climate without completely darkening the interior

The open floor plan ensures a bright, friendly living situation that opens up to the terrace flanking the building on two sides to the west and north. Panoramic windows provide an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape, so that outside and inside, nature and living fluidly merge with one another.

Looking outward, I see within

Soul searching is an act of building life.

Koolhaus reflects this journey in two frames—Looking in, which unveils elements of the self

, and Looking out, which reveals a realisation of greater creation.

Surrounded by nature, the structure clarity and transparency interweaving

Spiritual building, look outwards I see

Finding yourself, you do things beyond your capabilities.

STORY

Looking in 150

Looking out 150

Koolhaus represents an act of building life in two frames—Looking out to reveal the realisation of greater creation, and Looking in to unveil elements of the self.

Looking outward, I see within

Koolhaus has an adaptive structure that captures the essence of Kuala Kubu Bahru’s natural beauty. It interweaves with the surrounding greenery to immerse you into the fabric of the mountain’s peace and tranquillity.

The carefully crafted cantilever deck gives you a personal discovery of nature’s canvas, revealing rolling clouds, dramatic hues of each sunset, as well as the weightlessness of the night sky.

There was a struggle to grasp the soul of Koolhaus, but in each step of the remaking process, we experienced the catharsis of grief and growth. In being open enough to look outwards in observation, we become deeply appreciative of the delicate process of creating a building that beholds Nature rather than quelling Her.

Looking within, I see the world.

Fluidity shines in the ongoing process of rediscovering the self, which is embodied by Koolhaus. Each decision and adjustment to its structure reflects the way life is being curated within. As such, the crux of ‘what really matters’ always comes to light.

Koolhaus uses external light to illuminate and shape its identity, which imbues human-centric architecture with the cycle of nature. We learn to shut out the urban rush to focus on our hearts. We leave ourselves behind so that the entrance from both ends of nature—be it humans or the mountains—converge.

Koolhaus brings its worth as a rich journey traversing nature’s many compositions. This project has proved fruitful for deep fulfilment, and is cherished to inspire further introspectives cycles of growth beyond boundaries.

ABSURDISM, EXISTENTIALISM, FREE WILL, POSTMODERNISM

After the war, Introduction The first world war threw society into a state of disillusionment, and a fracturing of the staunch belief in morals became prominent, sparking literary advancements that challenged romantic ideals, advocating for a new perception of stability and sensibilities. In the poem Gerontion by T.S. Elliot, the modernist stance of fragmentation and the pursuit of purpose lies in man’s actualization of himself. Meanwhile, Samuel Beckett’s waiting for Godot written in the post-war environment of World War II can be viewed as an attack on modernism, rejecting its ideological claims to legitimise purposeful meaning that interprets the world of Estragon and Vladimir with a Grand Existential Narrative . Nonetheless, both these arguments provide a post-war lens that views life without inherent importance nor singular purpose/essence, resulting in the rise of ‘absurdism’— a search for answers in a world that offers no true answer . In this essay, the aforementioned conc...

Bredlik

https://yeahwrite.me/writing-help-bredlik/ Bredlik isn’t as easy as it looks, folks. It’s a very tight form with very tight parameters. Technically bredlik is four lines (two rhyming couplets) in iambic tetrameter, or two stanzas of four lines each in iambic diameter with an ABCB rhyme scheme. The other thing that bredlik has going on is that the original poet took inspiration for the poem not only from the incident but from the fact that it happened in a re-enactor setting. So he used 18th century spellings (or reasonable facsimiles thereof) for some of the words.

Manglish and its Cina Particles

"The ubiquitous word lah ( [lɑ́]   or   [lɑ̂] ), used at the end of a sentence, can also be described as a particle that simultaneously asserts a position and entices solidarity.  Note that 'lah' is often written after a space for clarity, but there is never a pause before it. This is because originally in Malay, 'lah' is appended to the end of the word and is not a separate word by itself." SNEAKING SUSPICION: "lah" was originally from the Cantonese practicing south of China. The land of Malaya had relations with China since the Ming dynasty, when China was the protector of the Malaccan Sultanate (maybe even from the 5th-6th century), and the use of la as a sentence-suffix particle got integrated into the Malay language its formation, probably during the second phase is Early Modern Malay (1500-ca. 1850) that witnessed the indigenization of Arabic loan words, changes in the affix system, and a rather liberal word order.  Confirmation alternatives: ...
